Mrs. Laurie Williams is the THS October Teacher of the Month. The THS Yearbook department sponsored by Mrs. Madison Brown, along with the Digital Arts and Graphic Design Classes taught by Ms. Sharon Cole, have created our new format for announcing our winners. :) Thank you to our sponsors and student groups. THS International Club at the Houston Grand Opera!
On Tuesday night, the THS International Club attended the Houston Grand Opera and saw Bizet's "Carmen" from 1875. Carmen is considered the most popular opera in the world. THS Students were among 1300 high school students attending. The International Club sponsor is Mrs. Monica Vaughan. Also in attendance were chaperones Ms. Crane, Mrs. Errington, Mr. Rogers, and Ms. Fierro.

A few of TISD’s best supporters were missing from today’s Round-Up because they were attending the Technology Curriculum Conference of Aldine (TCCA)! We at TISD appreciate the classroom tech support they provide for students, teachers, and staff! Ms. Fierro joined TISD in 2020-2021 as the THS Principal, having previously been a teacher, counselor, assistant principal, instructional specialist, and academic dean. She’s spent her 23 year career working in and around the Liberty County area, working at Liberty, Dayton, and Goose Creek ISDs. Ms. Fierro’s extensive experience and hometown familiarity are what make her such a great fit for our community. Thank you, Ms. Fierro, for all your hard work and for making every day a great day to be a Longhorn!

This month's board meeting pledges were lead by our TMS Jr. Beta Club students (Gabriel Thompson, Aniah Hyde, Dani Gibson, & Emma Brosey) along with their sponsor, Ms. Danielle Thompson. The Jr. Beta Club students were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments, both at the state AND national levels! The Jr. Beta Club's mission is to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students. Tarkington FFA had an excellent outing at this year’s TVE! Beth Lambert won Grand Champion Food and Grand Champion Sr Public Speaking. Megan Lambert won 2nd Place Steer, Beth Lambert won 3rd Place Heifer, Lindsey Tunney won 3rd Place Steer and 5th place Heifer. Shane Burch won 3rd place Heifer. All commercial cattle made the premium auction! Congratulations to our winners!





District Volleyball Tiebreaker
New Waverly, Onalaska and Tarkington are in a 3-way tie and will have to have a playoff to see who gets the 3rd and 4th seedings for playoffs.

TIME: Game 1 will begin at 4:00PM and others will follow. (5:30PM/7:00pm)
Game 1: Tarkington vs. Onalaska (4:00pm)
Game 2: New Waverly vs. WINNER G1 (5:30pm)
Game 3: Playback game if needed. (7:00pm)
Admission costs will be $3 and $5, and we will accept UIL, and District passes.


The Thundering Horns Band participated in UIL area C marching contest on Saturday October 23rd at Lindale High School. The band performed at 2:30 in the prelims and placed 9th qualifying for the finals. The band performed again at 9:30 in the finals and placed 9th again. There were 54 3A bands that competed in UIL across 4 regions and we are extremely proud of our students and their strong finish. Congratulations THS Band!
